AmeriCorps Service

Bringing the Best Our of America

BRIDGES partners with AmeriCorps to provide paid service opportunities to young adults committed to making a difference. As a BRIDGES AmeriCorps service member, you will:

  • Develop and empower 6th–12th grade youth in the Greater Memphis area to become engaged within their communities.
  • Receive extensive training as experiential educators and youth development during their service year.
  • Receive a living allowance (starting at $2,900 for summer members and starting at $21,500 for year-round members).
  • Qualify for a Segal Education Award upon completion of the service term.
  • Be able to have qualifying student loans go into forbearance.
  • Qualify for healthcare benefits if you serve year-round.

To qualify for AmeriCorps State and National service, individuals must be at least 17 years of age; have a high school diploma or GED; and be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident alien. Documentation of age, education and citizenship are required. Social security number is required to complete I-9. Members must reside in the Greater Memphis area to submit their federal I-9 documents within the first three (3) days of service and serve on site at the BRIDGES Center as needed.
